Local License

Local License holders are meant to function as extensions of their Local Church’s ministry to its community. The sphere of ministry of those who hold a Local License is to be determined by the leader under whose direction they are working. Such ministries may include Prison Ministry, Hospital Visitation, Nursing Home Ministry, small group leadership, simple church leadership, etc. Local License holders are not permitted to perform weddings or funerals (except under the direct supervision of a qualified minister.

All applicants must meet the following qualifications:

– All applicants must be 18 years of age or older

– All applicants must give assent to the bylaws, policies and prescribed Statement of Faith of LFMM.

– All applicants must submit the prescribed Application completed in it’s entirety along with three Recommendation Forms and a signed Sponsor Form to LFMM for processing.

– All applicants shall agree to an interview if deemed necessary by the Credentials Committee.

– All applicants shall agree to monthly update sessions with their assigned mentor where accountability and growth issues will be addressed and goals set forth for the applicant.

– All applicants not currently enrolled as a Covenant Theological Seminary student must enroll and begin fulfilling the Core Curriculum requirements. Applicants have two years to complete these requirements. Applicants who are CTS students have one year to complete the Core Curriculum requirements. Once completed, they must complete the Continuing Education requirements as set forth.

General License

General License holders are recognized as maturing ministerial candidates who are progressively developing the full proof of their ministry. General License ministers shall perform all the duties consistent with the Gospel Ministry in accordance with the Statement of Faith. Specific ministries identified with this license would be Associate or Assistant Pastors, Evangelists, Music or Youth Ministries, simple church pastors, etc. General License holders are permitted to perform sacerdotal functions including solemnizing weddings and conducting funerals.

All applicants must meet the following qualifications:

– All applicants must be 19 years of age or older.

– All applicants must give assent to the bylaws, policies and prescribed Statement of Faith of LFMM.

– All applicants must submit the prescribed Application completed in it’s entirety along with three Recommendation Forms and a signed Sponsor Form to LFMM for processing.

– All applicants shall agree to an interview if deemed necessary by the Credentials Committee.

– All applicants not currently enrolled as a Covenant Theological Seminary student must enroll and begin fulfilling the Core Curriculum requirements. Applicants have two years to complete these requirements. Applicants who are CTS students have one year to complete the Core Curriculum requirements.

– All applicants must complete the Continuing Education requirements as set forth.

Ordination

Ordination holders are mature ministers whose giftings are duly recognized by the Church of Jesus Christ and are set apart for the purpose of God-called ministry. Ordained ministers shall have the following functions:

– To solemnize marriage according to the laws of the state wherein they minister

– To officiate at funerals

– To administer the ordinance of Holy Communion and water baptism

– To perform all other duties consistent with the Gospel Ministry in accordance with the Statement of Faith

All applicants must meet the following qualifications:

– All applicants must be 21 years of age or older

– All applicants must give assent to the bylaws, policies and prescribed Statement of Faith of LFMM.

– All applicants for ordination shall have a recognized, proven ministry – this meaning that there is a clear evidence in the candidate’s life of the following qualities:

– The call of God

– The operation of the public ministry gifts according to Ephesians 4:11-12, and 1 Corinthians 12:18, 27-31.

– The disposition of genuine spiritual concern for people

– Discipline and maturity in personal life and public ministry

– All applicants must submit the prescribed Application completed in it’s entirety along with three Recommendation Forms and a signed Sponsor Form to LFMM for processing.

– All applicants applying for ordination shall agree to an interview conducted by the Board of Directors of LFMM, or their appointed representatives.

It is recommended that ordination applicants have held General License with LFMM for at least one year unless said applicant has obtained a bachelor or higher degree from Covenant Theological Seminary or is transferring their ordination from another approved organization. Graduation from CTS is however, no guarantee of advancement in credential ranking.

Applicants must have completed or commit to complete the Core Curriculum if they have not done so within two years if not currently a Covenant Theological Seminary student, or within one year if a CTS student.

Ordained ministers must complete the Continuing Education Core requirements each year.

Transfer applicants must be in good standing or satisfactorily prescribe the reasons and purpose for the transfer to LFMM.
